Wimbledon 2010: Quite a year for Sportsworld

No. 1 Court and Centre Court Hospitality

2010 proved to be a great success for Wimbledon, and for Sportsworld.

The sun shone on every day; Cliff Richard was banished to the stands because for the second year running the demand for sun hats and high factor sun cream was huge as the Wimbledon umbrellas were left on the shelves.

There was hot stuff on court too. Roger Federer struggled uncharacteristically through his first round match only to be knocked out by eventual finalist Tomas Berdych, Andy Murray made it to the semi-finals, but Nadal was just too strong for him and went on to win his second Grand Slam title at Wimbledon. And who can forget the marathon, record breaking match between John Isner and Nicolas Mahut which spread across three amazing days on Court 18.

The Queen attended Wimbledon for the first time in thirty three years, but unfortunately couldn’t inspire British success this time round. Last time she was there it was to watch Virginia Wade lift the Ladies’ title in 1977.

Sportsworld also enjoyed a fantastic Wimbledon with post credit crunch sales exceeding all expectations and the ‘sold out’ signs going up long before the first ball was hit. No.1 Court proved very popular this year with a number of top seeds, including that of both Federer and Nadal, playing on the 'hidden gem' of Wimbledon. Clients from around the world arrived at The Fairway Village eagerly anticipating an exciting day’s tennis and superb hospitality and none were disappointed.

2011 looks like being another popular year, with many guests vowing to return and others who missed out this year champing at the bit to secure their places now before it’s too late. Champagne days at Wimbledon for next year will be available on Centre and No.1 Court from next week.
