Queen set to attend Wimbledon in 2010

We excitedly heard in the news this week that the Queen is planning to visit Wimbledon this year for the first time in more than 30 years.

She was last at the All England Lawn Tennis Club in 1977, when she presented Virginia Wade with the ladies' trophy – the last time that a British player triumphed in a singles championship there.

The Queen was expected to attend the tournament last year if our very own Andy Murray had reached the final, so we're hoping that this is the royal vote of confidence he needs to finally go on and win the oldest tournament in the world.

Royal aides say the Queen, who is very much interested in tennis, will sit in Wimbledon's royal box on June 24 with her husband the Duke of Edinburgh. They both used to play tennis in their younger days and will attend regardless of the success or failure of the British players.

The Queen will see Wimbledon's new retractable roof, which was used for the first time last year, and witness the singles players competing for the big prize of £1 million for the very first time in Wimbledon history.

You can be there too, alongside the Queen, enjoying VIP hospitality in Sportsworld's official Fairway Village facility with tickets on Centre or No. 1 Court. Packages start from £480 + VAT pp.
