Sportsworld Wear it Pink!

Sportsworld's Wear it Pink Day raises £200 for the Breast Cancer Campaign!
The 30th of October was a colourful day in Sportsworld's Abingdon office. Desks were littered with the remains of pink cup cakes, and staff could be seen going about their day in pink fairy wings, bandanas, wigs and leg warmers.
These unusual events were not the result of a recently discovered love for fancy dress, but part of a charity fundraising event for the Breast Cancer Campaign’s Wear it Pink day.
Established in 2002 by the Breast Cancer Campaign, Wear it Pink Day is an annual event that aims to help raise funds to aid the continuation of pioneering breast cancer research, which is currently carried out at 43 centres across the UK and Ireland. As a company, the day had real personal meaning; Sportsworld wanted to show their support to those members of staff who have been through breast cancer themselves, but thankfully come out fighting the other side.
As well as wearing all manner of pink clothing and accessories for last week’s Wear it Pink day, Sportsworld staff made their own individual contributions for the campaign, including raising funds with an in-office pink cake sale, toasting sandwiches for staff lunchtime and buying raffle tickets for the highly sought after first prize of half a day's holiday!
With 'best dressed' prizes going to the most 'pink' male and female, and certain members of staff being nominated (by force) to don the infamous pink wig for 30 minutes, this week the team were proud to announce a grand total of £200 was raised, an impressive amount for just one-day’s work, which will go towards essential cancer research.
Organiser and Programme Co-ordinator Kate James's comments on the day reflected the team’s pride in their success ‘we are delighted with the results of the fundraising event. It is definitely a testament to what can be achieved for good causes when we work together. Everyone seemed to have fun which is important too'.
