Sportsworld supports Sport Relief

19-21 March 2010
This year, Sportsworld is supporting Sport Relief, and it's official! Our sister company Thomson Sport has teamed up with Sport Relief as an official partner, and as a group of TUI companies have pledged to raise half a million pounds for the very worthwhile cause.
Why Sport Relief?
Sport Relief help some of the most vulnerable people both here in the UK and abroad. This includes working with street children worldwide, local community work in the UK, and providing malaria prevention training, treatment and supplies across various projects worldwide.
How we will raise £500,000
Our mammoth £500k fundraising effort will be achieved by getting the whole TUI colleague family involved across Mainstream, Activity and the other sector divisions on a variety of fundraising events leading up to the official Sport Relief weekend in March.
The events are already shaping up and are set to include:
- Entering the Mile! This involves colleagues running 1, 3 or 6 miles on Sunday 21st March with thousands of other Sport Relief fundraisers!
Joining in on an organised event - some of the events that are topping the list at the moment are:
Bidding to win a once in a lifetime flying experience
Joining in on a 100k relay around Crawley which starts at TUI House on Friday 19th March
Climbing the height of the Empire State Building on a climbing wall in Hampshire on Sat 20th March
Travelling around the county of Chester in 80 ways on Sunday 27th March. The means of travel will include trains
and trams, stilts and scooters, roller-blading, space-hopping, juggling, swimming and dancing!
Cycling more than 1000 miles from Hitchin, Hertfordshire to Edinburgh on Wednesday 31st March arriving on
Easter Monday!
Bidding to win tickets to see England v Wales at Twickenham on Saturday 6th February
Sponsoring celebrity Christine Bleakley who will water ski across the channel for the official Thomson Sport
Relief Water Ski ChallengeCreating a new event - colleagues are busy thinking about ways they can get involved which could be anything from organising an abseiling, skydiving or go-karting challenge, setting up an official office fantasy football league, challenging colleagues in a Wii Sports contest, organising an office exercise bike marathon etc etc...
Simply donating! - it's easy for everyone to donate online, without the need to even get sweaty!
How you can help!
There's no reason why only TUI colleagues can get involved. If you are interested in helping us reach the Thomson Sport Relief target, any donations are gratefully received. Visit the official Sport Relief Fundraising page to do so.
