The resort of Whistler was born on an Olympic dream. Franz Wilhelmsen, the man who opened Whistler for skiing in the 1960's, did so in the hopes of hosting the Games here. It has taken almost 50 years for that dream to be realised as Whistler Blackcomb is the official Alpine Skiing venue and Vancouver the Host City for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
