Travel Insurance

We have negotiated a special Travel Insurance scheme which is underwritten by ELVIA Travel Insurance International N.V.(Netherlands) and administered in the UK by Mondial Assistance (UK) Limited so that all persons travelling with us will be sufficiently covered. Mondial Assistance (UK) Limited is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority.

Elvia* is authorised by De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) and regulated by the Financial Services Authority for the conduct of UK business.

Elvia* follows the Financial Ombudsman Service code of conduct for complaints and is covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS).

Cancellation cover applies as soon as the Booking Form, together with the trip deposit or full balance and insurance premium is received and ends at the beginning of your journey. The cover for all other sections starts at the beginning of your journey and finishes at the end of your journey.

Key features of the policy:

Telling us about relevant facts
Before you travel you must tell us about anything that may affect your cover. If you do not tell us about something that may be relevant, your cover may be refused and we may not cover any related claims.

Cancellation rights
If your cover does not meet your requirements, please return the documentation within 14 days of receipt and your premium will be refunded in full unless you have travelled, made a claim or intend to make a claim.

Policy document
You should read the document carefully. It gives you full details of what is and what is not covered and the conditions of the cover. This will be sent to you prior to departure with your holiday documents. A copy is available on request.

Health
Your policy contains restrictions regarding existing medical conditions of the people travelling and of other people upon whose health the trip may depend. If you or anyone on whom the trip depends has an existing medical condition then this must be declared to us.

Dangerous activity
If you are going to take part in activities where there is a high risk of injury, check that your policy covers you.

Policy excesses
Under most sections of the policy, claims will be subject to an excess. This means that you will be responsible for paying the first part of the claim. The amount you have to pay is the excess.

Reasonable care
You need to take all reasonable care to protect yourself and your property.

Complaints
Your insurance policy includes a complaints procedure which tells you what steps you can take if you wish to make a complaint. Your policy is governed by the law of England and Wales unless you and the insurers have agreed otherwise.

Please note: This information is not a substitute for your policy. Please make sure you read your policy carefully. If you have not received your policy prior to departure, please contact Sportsworld.

How to Calculate your Sportsworld Insurance

  • Travel insurance is calculated based on three variables: tour duration/ cost of tour / your age
  • Please be aware that the length of your trip to South Africa, is calculated from the date upon which you depart the UK/Europe to the date upon which you arrive back in the UK/Europe (not the number of days spent in South Africa)
  • The insurance prices indicated in Table 1 below cover tour packages up to the value of £3000 (per person) and indicate the price of travel insurance based on tour duration and age
  • Extra cover up to the amount of £10000 may be provided at a cost of £21 per additional £1000 cover required. An example of how this calculation works is shown in Table 2 below
  • Table 3 & Table 4 provide further examples of the best way to calculate your insurance policy
