MasterCard: 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany™ Travel Programme
The brief
- Our overall remit was to design and manage a travel package programme to be marketed to all MasterCard offices and their eligible member banks worldwide
- A programme within a programme was required for several matches to cater for winners of ‘Priceless Moments’ promotions, as well as Global Key Account executives and partners
Our response
- In addition to the services and logistics planning for the core travel package programme, the Global Key Account programme featured upgraded hotel accommodation and flights
- Key Account guests submitted relevant personal information via a bespoke MasterCard branded microsite which captured data securely in Sportsworld's Event Management System for subsequent operational reports
- The Key Account guest experience included:
- Personal invitation from MasterCard Key Account Director
- Pre joining information pack (provided in various languages)
- Airport meet & greet service and chauffeur car transfer to hotel
- Fast-track registration
- In-room premium gift items
- Welcome reception & dinner
- Private match-day transfers to/from stadium

- Highly experienced multi-lingual staff overseeing all aspects of programme
- Chauffeur car transfer to airport or station on departure
The results
- Overall, Sportsworld successfully managed 4,200 package guests across 10 different travel packages, 12 ciites, 50 hotels, 64 tournament matches, and 242 member banks/prize winner groups
- All Global Key Account Executives acknowledged the advantage of being able to tap into a professionally managed travel package programme
- MasterCard had a single solution to access a wide range of World Cup travel and hospitality packages, with the flexibility to upgrade to suit their specific B2B hosting needs
- Sportsworld was re-appointed to manage MasterCard's UEFA Euro 2008 travel package programme
